ملخص
Capitella capitata (Fabricius) (Annelida: Polychaeta) is considered to be a species complex in many areas. An individual C. capitata was collected from the Scottish west coast bearing egg of both Type 1 (small worms with small number of large eggs, lecithotrophic development) and Type 2 (large worms with large number of small eggs, planktotrophic development) (sensu Pearson ge Pearson 1991). This appears to be the first record of such an occurrence and egg morphometrics compare with Pearson & Pearson's (1991) data for other Type 1 and Type 2 eggs. Field evidence for poecilogony is advanced.
