I am Associate Professor of Literature and Drama and co-convener of the  Humanities and Arts Research Cluster at the University of the Highlands and Islands.

My doctoral thesis  explored Ben Jonson's antimasques, and I have taught literature and drama at the Universities of Strathclyde, Southampton, Northumbria and Glasgow before coming to Inverness. I have published widely on the topic of early modern court festivals and theatre, and currently  investigating theatrical representations of Scots at home and abroad for a monograph - the proposal for which has been accepted by the Oxford University Press, Early Modern Literary Geographies series.

More recent research interests include the application of drama and creative practice research methods in health contexts, creative practice and pedagogies.

I am director of studies and supervisor for MRes and PhD students working across literature, drama, history and creative practice.

I have membership of: The Society for Renaissance Studies, The Theatre and Performance Research Association and The International Federation of Theatre Research; and Senior Fellow of Advance HE, as well as Fellow of The Royal Society of Arts.
